A touristic area of Athens, close to Plaka and the Acropolis. Monastiraki Square, just in front of the electric station, is the starting point for “Yousourum”, the big bazaar on Hephaestus Street, which was formerly known for its antiquities, but today it also has shops with modern streetwear. Next to the square is the Tzistarakis mosque, which houses today a collection of pottery, and the church of Panagia Pantanassa, also known as the “Church of the Great Monastery”.
